Sunday, March 24 is National Cocktail Day, and it’s no secret Sammy Hagar loves a well-crafted drink. The Red Rocker can add some magic to your home cocktail this Sunday for National Cocktail Day with a peek inside his top-rated cocktail book, “Sammy Hagar’s Greatest Cocktail Hits: 85 Personal Favorites from The Red Rocker.”
Chock-full of delicious and innovative recipes, Sammy is sharing five of his favorites made with Sammy’s Beach Bar Rum from the cocktail super guide Cheers!
Maui Rocker
The tropical, red-colored delight Maui Rocker will rock your world. Getting its potent punch from a marriage between Sammy’s Beach Bar Platinum Rum and triple sec, this citrus cocktail screams Puerto Rican vibes and good times.
Ingredients:

1 ½ ounces Sammy’s Beach Bar Platinum Rum

1 ½ ounces fresh pineapple juice
-
1 ounce sweet & sour mix
-
½ ounce triple sec (or any high-quality orange liqueur)

¼ ounce grenadine
Garnish: fresh orange and pineapple wedges
Preparation: In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, add the rum, pineapple juice, sweet & sour mix, triple sec and grenadine. Shake well and strain into a hurricane or tall glass filled with ice. Garnish with fresh orange and pineapple wedges.
Mojito Rising
The always-refreshing Mojito Rising puts a tart twist on a tropical classic with the help of muddled raspberries and a combination of Sammy’s Beach Bar Platinum Rum and Sammy’s Beach Bar Red Head Rum. This fruity delight is great for batching and enjoying from a pitcher with friends.
Ingredients:

3 fresh raspberries

4-6 fresh mint leaves

1 ½ ounces Sammy’s Beach Bar Platinum Rum
-
½ ounce Sammy’s Beach Bar Red Head Rum
-
Soda water, as needed
Garnish: Fresh watermelon slice, lime wheel and mint sprig
Preparation: Add the raspberries, mint leaves, and lime juice to a cocktail shaker. Using a muddler, gently (yet firmly) muddle the ingredients. Add both rums and shake lightly. Pour into a Collins glass filled with ice. Top with soda water and garnish with a slice of fresh water-
melon, lime wheel, and mint sprig.
Shark Bite
Be warned, this cocktail is so delicious it may cause a feeding frenzy! The aptly named Shark Bite pairs Sammy’s Beach Bar Platinum Rum and Southern Comfort with citrus flavors for a smooth drink with just a bit of bite.
Ingredients:

1 ½ ounces Sammy’s Beach Bar Platinum Rum

½ ounce Southern Comfort

½ ounce fresh orange juice

1 ounce sweet & sour mix

1 ounce Simple Syrup
-
Sprite, as needed
Garnish: Fresh pineapple wedge, maraschino cherry, fresh mint sprig, paper umbrella
Preparation: Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and add the rum, Southern Comfort, orange juice, sweet and sour mix and simple syrup. Shake well and pour into a Collins or highball glass filled with ice. Top with a splash of lemon lime soda. Garnish with a fresh pineapple wedge, maraschino cherry, fresh mint sprig and paper umbrella.
Tiki Swizzle
The Tiki Swizzle blends the dynamic duo of Sammy’s Beach Bar Platinum Rum and Red Head Rum with sweet tropical flavors and citrus juices, all topped with the zest of Peychaud’s bitters for a cocktail worthy of praise.
Ingredients:

1 ¼ ounces Sammy’s Beach bar Platinum Rum

1 ounce Monin South Seas Blend Syrup

½ ounce fresh lime juice
-
1 ounce fresh pineapple juice

1 ounce fresh orange juice
-
3 dashes Peychaud’s bitters

¾ ounce Sammy’s Red Head Rum
Garnish: Fresh pineapple wedge, orange wheel and maraschino cherry
Preparation: In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, add the Beach Bar Platinum Rum, Monin South Seas Blend Syrup, juices, bitters and Red Head Rum. Shake well and strain into a hurricane or tall glass filled with ice. Garnish with a fresh pineapple wedge, orange wheel and maraschino cherry.
Lemon Drop Martini
Refreshingly tart with a hint of sweetness, Sammy imbues tropical vibes in the classic, lip-puckering Lemon Drop Martini with the help of Sammy’s Beach Bar Platinum Rum.
Ingredients:

2 ounces Sammy’s Beach Bar Platinum Rum
-
1 ounce limoncello
-
2 ounces sweet & sour mix
Rim: Fresh lemon and sugar
Garnish: Fresh lemon wedge
Preparation: Run a fresh lemon wedge around the rim of a chilled martini glass. Then roll the moistened rim in sugar and set the glass aside. In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, add the rum, limoncello and sweet & sour mix. Shake well and strain into a prepared glass. Garnish with a fresh lemon wedge and serve.
