Papa Needs A Drink! - Cocktail Recipes for Father’s Day

The 808 Mojito

Up first we have a Hawaiian twist on a Cuban classic, the 808 Mojito. The 808 Mojito takes the quintessential rum drink and uses pineapple, mango, habanero pepper, yuzu, kaffir lime leaves and lychee fruit to transform the drink into a tropical getaway in a glass. Dads everywhere will rejoice as they sip, close their eyes and are transported to a faraway beach with the ocean water lapping at their feet. Or, ask dad to dip his toes in the kiddie pool and close those eyes extra tight!

Recipe:

1/2 ounce of fresh pineapple (puree, juice, or freshly chopped)

1/2 ounce fresh mango (puree, juice, or freshly chopped)

1/2 habanero pepper, chopped 

2 ounces fresh yuzu juice

3-4 fresh kaffir lime leaves 

1 ounce Lychee Simple Syrup

2 ounces Sammy’s Beach Bar Platinum Rum  

1 ounce ginger beer 

3/4 ounce Sammy’s Red Head Rum 

Garnish: Fresh mint sprig 

Preparation: In a cocktail shaker, add the pineapple, mango, habanero pepper, yuzu, lime leaves and Lychee Simple Syrup. Using a muddler, gently (yet firmly) muddle the ingredients. Then add the Beach Bar Platinum Rum. Stir well and pour into a Collins or highball glass filled with crushed ice. Top with the ginger beer and Redhead Rum.  

Red Head Roast

For fathers looking for a little pick-me-up with their cocktail look no further than the Red Head Roast. This coffee-based cocktail is made special for all the dads out there who can never seem to find the time to get a good night’s sleep. Luckily for them, the Red Head Roast is here to give the energy needed to regain their sanity. 

Recipe:

1/2 ounce Sammy’s Red Head Rum 

1/2 Kahlua Coffee Liqueur

2 ½ ounces iced coffee 

1 ounce Simple Syrup 

3/4 ounce cream 

Garnish: Freshly grated nutmeg and cinnamon 

Preparation: In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, add the rum, coffee liquor, iced coffee, Simple Syrup and cream. Shake well and strain into a rocks chilled glass. Garnish with freshly grated nutmeg and cinnamon.

Maui Spiced Beach

Sammy’s Maui Spiced Beach is the ideal refreshing cocktail to serve at large backyard Father’s Day gatherings. This easy to make, red tinctured crowd-pleaser is guaranteed to delight and have Dad and company asking for another round before the first one is even gone!

Recipe:

1 ½ ounces Sammy’s Beach Bar Kola Spiced Rum 

4 ounces fresh pineapple juice 

3 ounces cranberry juice 

Garnish: fresh orange and pineapple wedges 

Preparation: In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, add Kola Spiced rum, pineapple juice and cranberry juice. Shake well and strain into a Collins or highball glass filled with ice. Garnish with fresh orange and pineapple wedges. 

Key Lime Martini

The Key Lime Martini is the perfect drink for Father’s Day, because it's the one day of the year when no  one is allowed to yell at them for indulging in a sweet treat. Enjoy this cocktail that combines the best of a cocktail and slice of pie guilt free!

Recipe:

1/2 ounce Sammy’s Beach Bar Platinum Rum

1 ½ ounces Keke Key Lime Pie Cream Liqueur 

1/2 ounce banana liqueur 

1/2 of Coco Lopez Cream of Coconut 

1/2 ounce fresh lime juice 

Rim: Honey and crushed graham cracker 

Garnish: Fresh lime wheel 

Preparation: Roll the rim of a chilled martini glass in some honey. Then gently roll the honey rim in crushed graham cracker and set the glass aside. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and add the rum, Keke Key Lime Pie Cream Liqueur, banana liqueur, cream of coconut and lime juice. Shake well and strain into the prepared glass. Garnish with a fresh lime wheel and serve.
